STOP USING THAT PHOTO! Judge Orders Injunction to Stop Potential Copyright Infringement. Litigating a copyright infringement claim can take months or even years. In the meantime, the copyright owner may request a court to issue a temporary restraining order ("TRO") for 10 days and then a Preliminary Injunction (both of which are "equitable," rather than legal, remedies) to prevent the continued use of the copyrighted work.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art has lent to The University of Texas at Austin 28 middle to late 20th century sculptures that have been installed across the campus as part of the university's public art program. While you can look at the sculptures, you are not supposed to touch or photograph them.

AP Files Counter Lawsuit Against Obama Poster Artist. The Associated Press filed a counter lawsuit against the Barack Obama poster artist Shepard Fairey in federal court in Manhattan claiming that the artist and his companies were "fully aware that the AP photo Fairey based his iconic Obama poster upon was a copyrighted image," and that the artist "misappropriated AP's rights to their photograph without giving notice, credit, or compensation."

UK opposes copyright exemptions for mash-ups - There should be no new exemption from copyright law for users' adaptations of copyright-protected content, the UK Government has said. User-created content can include individuals' use of professionally-produced music, film, video or images for a new or different purpose to the original.
